Colorado lands spot in RJ Young’s preseason top 25

Colorado landed a spot on RJ Young’s preseason top 25

Fox Sports college football analyst RJ Young is one of the few national media pundits going all in on Colorado. Even in January, well before the bulk of Deion Sanders’ “Louis” luggage had arrived in Boulder, Young included the Buffs in his all-too-early top 25.

The vastly improved Buffs are now in Young’s preseason top 25, landing the No. 20 spot on his list that was released on Wednesday. Colorado was followed by (in order) South Carolina, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Iowa.

Obviously, this is a huge vote of confidence in head coach Deion Sanders’ Buffs, who did not receive a single vote in the USA TODAY Sports preseason coaches poll.

Here’s some of what Young wrote on Colorado ahead of the 2023 season:

Last year, QB JT Shrout led Colorado in passing with 1,220 yards, seven TDs and eight INTs. Shedeur Sanders threw for three times that many yards (3,732) and nearly six times as many TDs (40), with two fewer INTs (6). Last year WR Montana Lemonius-Craig led the Buffs in receiving with 23 catches for 359 yards. Now they’ve got Travis Hunter.

TCU, Colorado’s Week 1 opponent and future Big 12 foe, was ranked only five spots ahead at No. 15.
