Colorado inside linebackers coach Mark Smith loses everything in Boulder County wildfires

Colorado Buffaloes inside linebackers coach Mark Smith’s Boulder County home was among approximately 1,000 tragically lost in Thursday’s Marshall Park Fire.

“Just got word that every material possession we had today is now gone,” Smith wrote in a tweet on Thursday night. “Our home, cars, and everything we had in our home lost to the fires that ripped through our community. Thank you to those who reached out. Processing how to completely start over and grateful for our health.”

The 43-year-old coach had just completed his first season at Colorado and like every other Boulder County resident impacted by the fires, it came as a complete surprise.

Smith joined 9NEWS (KUSA) Denver’s Arielle Orsuto in front of his decimated home on Friday. While Smith and his family had only lived there for less than a year, he said the loss remained “devestating.”
