Colorado has filled its biggest needs via the transfer portal, analyst believes

The Buffs have reloaded nicely via the transfer portal

During his time with the Colorado Buffaloes, head coach Deion Sanders has made a habit of attracting talent to Boulder, primarily via the transfer portal.

Earlier this week, Andy Staples of On3 (subscription required) named Colorado as one of 10 college football teams that have addressed its needs through the transfer portal this offseason. CU is navigating a pivotal stretch this offseason needing to offset the losses of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and others. So far, CU has added 17 transfers at numerous position groups that needed an influx of talent.

At quarterback, CU landed one of the best transfers on the market in former Liberty star Kaidon Salter, who will compete with incoming freshman Julian “JuJu” Lewis. Whoever wins the starting QB competition will be joined by a host of new faces on the offense. The Buffs have landed four offensive linemen, most notably former Illinois standout Zy Crisler. Out wide, CU added AAC Freshman of the Year Joesph Williams and a much-needed tight end in Zach Atkins.

With CU losing standouts such as Shane Cokes and Chidozie Nwankwo, defensive tackle Jehiem Oatis may end up being the most impactful non-QB transfer when it’s all said and done. Other incoming transfers to know on defense include safety Tawfiq Byard, linebacker Martavius French and cornerback Makari Vickers.
