Colorado earns highest AP Top 25 women’s basketball poll ranking since 1995

Colorado landed its highest ranking in the AP Top 25 women’s basketball poll in nearly 30 years

The Colorado women’s team is wasting no time making an even bigger name for itself this season. The Buffs started the year with a stunning double-digit upset over LSU, the defending national champions, and then proceeded to beat Le Moyne and Oklahoma State.

On Monday, the latest Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll was released and the Buffs improved 15 spots to No. 5.

The No. 5 ranking is Colorado’s highest since the Buffs finished the 1994-95 regular season at No. 2. And, according to the AP’s story on the poll, their 15-spot leap is the largest in the poll’s 46-year history.

Including Colorado, the Pac-12 also landed a whopping five teams in the top 10.

The Buffs are off until Saturday when they face SMU in Dallas. After that, they play Cincinnati, Kentucky and North Carolina State in a challenging stretch for head coach JR Payne’s team.
