Collin Morikawa Q&A: On Tiger welcoming him to the ‘major club,’ his unfamiliarity with Oak Hill, and life with his wife Katherine

“Tiger came up to me and said ‘Welcome to the Major Club,’ and I got chills just from hearing that.”

[lawrence-newsletter]While he’s yet to win this season, Collin Morikawa has been mighty close on numerous occasions, posting five top-10 finishes, including a runner-up showing at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Can he get back into the winner’s circle this year? And if so, will he do it at a major?

It’s not like Morikawa hasn’t done this before — he’s taken home a pair of major championships in his five PGA Tour victories. The California native captured the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park and then raised the Claret Jug after winning the 2021 Open Championship at Royal St. George’s Golf Club.

In advance of this year’s PGA Championship at Oak Hill in Rochester, Morikawa, who became a Rolex ambassador this year, answered a number of questions through his partnership with Rolex, including those about life with wife Katherine, and his lack of knowledge about the next major venue.
