College football transfer window set to re-open on Apr. 15

College football’s transfer portal spring window is fast approaching.

The transfer portal, or college sports free agency as I like to call it, is set to re-open on Apr. 15. More players will likely put their names in after the conclusion of spring practice.

Perhaps we could see a lot of movement with players understanding their roles with teams for the upcoming college football season. The position to watch most is likely the quarterback. With teams such as Alabama, Georgia, and Texas all having position battles, will the odd man out opt to try to start elsewhere?

The transfer portal number is likely to rise in this next window period. Originally it was set to open on May 1 but it was moved up back in October when the Division I Council met. This is much shorter window than the one that began following the conference championship games.

This could also be big news for coaches around the country after they evaluate where they are as a program. Staffs can determine where they are weakest for the upcoming season and address those needs immediately.

Currently, USC Trojans wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr is the highest-rated uncommitted player per 247Sports. Bryant could find a new home this spring after catching 53 passes for 645 yards and 7 touchdowns in three seasons with USC.
