College Football Playoff: Instant Reaction to New Rankings

how in the world can you justify Penn State being eight spots higher?

The answer is that you can’t.

How did things work out so well for Oklahoma and Baylor?  The winner of the Big XII Championship on Saturday by default will have a significantly better win that No. 5 Utah currently does or will have.

If No. 6 Oklahoma wins, they’ll have the case that they twice beat currently No. 7 Baylor while Utah’s best win will have been over No. 13 Oregon.

What does it mean?  It means that Oklahoma or Baylor will both have a significantly better win on their resume than Utah will have (that’s assuming Utah beats Oregon this weekend) and with Oklahoma’s loss coming against a Kansas State team that is probably one of the first teams out of the top-25, it’s hardly a knock whatsoever compared to a Utah team whose only loss came against No. 23 USC.
