College baseball’s updated USA TODAY Sports coaches poll as of Apr. 24

The SEC claims five of the top six spots in this week’s coaches poll.

Just about a month of baseball is left in the 2023 regular season at the collegiate level. The conference tournaments will begin in late May as we start to get a feel for what the postseason field will look like.

The No. 1 ranked [autotag]LSU Tigers[/autotag] are coming off a sweep of Ole Miss as they finished the week at 32-7 and 12-5 in SEC play. The [autotag]Tennessee Volunteers[/autotag] also are coming off a sweep after they blasted [autotag]Vanderbilt Commodores[/autotag] pitching over the weekend. It wasn’t a great weekend for the [autotag]Florida Gators[/autotag], who were swept by the [autotag]South Carolina Gamecocks[/autotag].

The biggest riser in this week’s poll is the [autotag]Duke Blue Devils[/autotag], who jumped 15 spots. They are winners of five straight, including a sweep of No. 19 Louisville, who fell nine spots this week. The Cardinals were the big loser of the weekend for teams still ranked.

The [autotag]Texas Longhorns[/autotag] were the highest ranked team to fall completely out of the top 25 at No. 14 last week. Texas was swept by the [autotag]Oklahoma Sooners[/autotag] over the weekend. OU received no votes despite taking all three games against a top 15 opponent.
