After finishing last season with 12 wins, the Texas Longhorns have high expectations for the 2024 campaign. Due to a roster loaded with talent, many analysts nationwide, including Colin Cowherd, expect the Longhorns to be back in the playoffs.
On Sunday, Cowherd revealed his CFP Rankings on his show ‘The Herd’ and had Texas at No. 4.
The teams Cowherd ranked ahead of the Longhorns were Oregon, Georgia, and Ohio State. In their first year in a new conference, the Longhorns will be looking to prove Cowherd right. Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss were the only other SEC teams included in the top 12.
Colin Cowherd predicts the #Longhorns will finish as the No. 4 seed in the CFP.
He says #Oregon, #Georgia, #OhioState, #Texas and #Alabama will “feel better than anyone in college football."

With the regular season only weeks away, the Longhorns will again be led by quarterback Quinn Ewers. He will have many weapons at his disposal, including tight end Amari Niblack and wide receivers Ryan Wingo and Johnny Cook. In the backfield, CJ Baxter will be looking to build on his success from last year and take advantage of an increase in playing time.
While the offense is expected to be a strength, the defense includes plenty of intriguing faces. A few players that stand out are linebackers Anthony Hill Jr. and David Gbenda, elite pass rusher Colin Simmons, and cornerback Kobe Black.
Although Texas will have to make adjustments due to being in a more competitive conference, they have enough talent to be successful. That was on display in Cowherd’s rankings as teams nationwide prepare for what should be an exciting college football season.
