Colby Wooden, Zakoby McClain earn SEC weekly honors

Glad these guys are on our team.

Two of Auburn’s defenders earned honors from the SEC after impressive performances against Ole Miss.

Linebacker Zakoby McClain earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week, and defensive lineman Colby Wooden earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

McClain finished the day with 14 total tackles (10 solo), two sacks, and two tackles for loss. Wooden finished with five total tackles and a quarterback hurry.

Auburn’s defense held Ole Miss to 20 points on Saturday, the lowest total for the Rebels since they scored 20 against Auburn back in 2019.

McClain is on pace to have 100+ tackles for the second time in as many seasons for the Tigers. Wooden is on pace to finish the year with 6.5 sacks as a sophomore. The Tigers’ defense isn’t playing as badly as some might think.
