ULM still has a desperate shot to win the Sun Belt West, if it wins this week and gets by Louisiana next weeks and lucks out and gets a few losses from Arkansas State.
But for now, the better focus is on simply winning. The Warhawks have to win their last two games just to get bowl eligible.
They’ve lost three of their last four games thanks to a defense that’s getting bombed for 48 points or more in those three.
Coastal Carolina also needs to win its last two games. Losers of five of the last six games, the Chanticleers get a layup against Texas State at home next week, and it can get to six wins with a victory in Monroe.
Can they get the running game going on a ULM front that’s getting hit for 255 yards per game? Yes, but the Warhawk offense will be too explosive, with Caleb Evans running for 75 yards and throwing for over 250 in his final home game.
It’s going to be a fun, explosive fight with ULM staying alive for a bowl.
