Muschamp is in his fifth season as South Carolina’s head coach.

South Carolina (2-4, 2-4 SEC) lost to Tennessee, 31-27, to open the 2020 season Sept. 26. Muschamp is 55-50 during his tenure with the Gamecocks. If South Carolina elected to move on from Muschamp at the end of the season, Pruitt could hire his respected friend on Tennessee’s staff.

Muschamp’s nephew, Robert Muschamp, is taking part in his second season at Tennessee as a graduate assistant working with the defensive line.

“He does a really nice job for us. Very hard worker, very knowledgeable. Really good young coach that one day will have a chance to probably be a coordinator or head coach. Works extremely hard and we’re very excited that we have him.” Jeremy Pruitt on Robert Muschamp

The Muschamp’s are a football family.

They have a long history within college football. The fifth-year South Carolina head coach has brothers, Patrick and Mike, that played collegiately. Mike Muschamp played quarterback at Duke, while Patrick Muschamp was a center at Army.

Their father, Larry Muschamp, played at North Carolina. Larry’s father, Herbert, played at Penn State.

Patrick Muschamp joined the show “Tennessee Two-A-Days” to discuss their football family, his brother and Pruitt at Tennessee.
