Coach Sullinger? For the former Boston Celtics draft pick, it’s a definite goal

Jared Sullinger eyes a career on the other end of the clipboard after he retires as a player.

Jared Sullinger wants to coach the game he loves once his career as a player is done, according to new reporting from the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch’s Adam Jardy. The former Boston Celtics draft pick is back in the United States after a successful stint in Korea. He is awaiting the birth of a daughter and coaching a team in the annual event known as “The Basketball Tournament” or TBT for short.

Competing for the $1 million annual prize, Sullinger opened up about his interest in making the leap from playing to coaching. “I feel like TBT is a great place not only for the players to build a resume but as well as for people to build a coaching resume,” he explained.

“You see a lot of great coaches out here showing a lot of great sets and showing a lot of great defensive schemes and showing they can coach, so it gives people opportunities to showcase what they can do.”

“When I retire, I want to go into coaching,” Sullinger added. “This is kind of my lead-up into that process.”
