Cleveland Browns lose star RB Nick Chubb for 6 weeks

Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns goes to IR with a knee injury

It is beginning to seem the Cleveland Browns can’t have good things. Despite a 3-1 record and a winning streak, the team has suffered a major loss. Star running back Nick Chubb suffered an MCL injury and is out for six weeks.

Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Chubb will be placed on IR.

Chubb suffered the injury in the first half of Cleveland’s Week 4 victory when he was rolled up on from behind by Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill, who was taken down to the ground by Browns guard Wyatt Teller. As Hill hit the ground, he collided with the outside of Chubb’s right knee, which bent in awkwardly.

Chubb walked off the field and did not return to the action.

“Big prayers up for (RB Nick) Chubb right now,” said receiver Odell Beckham Jr. “Anytime you see your brother go down, it’s never a good feeling. I’m just praying that he gets healthy and we can have him back soon.”

Chubb rushed for 1,494 yards rushing in 2019. He had 335 yards in 2020 and was averaging 5.9 yards per clip.

The Browns will use Kareem Hunt, who has been seeing a lot of duty with Chubb during his absence.
