Clemson lands in-state walk-on QB

Clemson added a preferred walk-on quarterback with the commitment of Greenville and J.L. Mann High School’s Ethan Anderson.

Clemson added another quarterback to its depth chart when it secured a pledge from Ethan Anderson of Greenville’s J.L. Mann High School on Thursday. Listed at 6’2″, 185 pounds, Anderson committed to coach Dabo Swinney’s program as a preferred walk-on for the class of 2024.

In his senior season at J.L. Mann High School, Anderson threw for 3,172 yards and 42 touchdowns. As a junior, he threw for 2,273 yards.

In his senior season, Anderson led the Patriots to an 11-3 record and a berth in the Class 5A playoffs. The Patriots lost, 31-30, in the semifinal round of the playoffs to eventual 5A state champion Dutch Fork. In that game, Anderson passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns.

According to Maxpreps.com, Anderson finished the 2023 season fourth in the state in passing yards and fifth in passing touchdowns.

Anderson will join a quarterback room featuring returning starter Cade Klubnik, backup Chris Vizzina, and fellow walk-ons Trent Pearman and Colby Shaw.
