Clemson climbs, LSU continues to tumble in latest coaches poll

We check in on the latest college baseball coaches poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

There are less than two weeks left before the conference tournaments get underway. Teams are jockeying for position as the postseason gets closer and we get a sense of who could be making it to Omaha for the College World Series.

Last week the Wake Forest Demon Deacons took over the top spot after the LSU Tigers dropped a series to move down to No. 2. We saw more movement with the Bayou Bengals this week after dropping a series to Mississippi State, they now sit at No. 4.

Over in the Big 12, the West Virginia Mountaineers climbed to No. 7 up four spots after taking two of three against Texas Tech in Morgantown. They are currently the highest-ranked team in the conference. The Clemson Tigers also were big movers going from No. 21 to No. 10 this week, just behind in-state rivals South Carolina. The Tigers are winners of eight in a row, including a sweep at Virginia Tech.

It wasn’t sunshine and daffodils for the Duke Blue Devils this week, who fell eight spots to No. 16. They are coming off losses in three of their last five games. Georgia Tech took two of three games from them this past weekend in Durham.
