Clemson baseball suffers first loss of the season after 14-0 start

Northeastern handed Clemson its first loss of the season on Sunday.

The Clemson Tigers baseball team started the season on a tear, winning their first 14 games of the season, but they failed to complete a series sweep of Northeastern on Sunday and suffered their first loss of the season, 5-3.

Northeastern pitcher Wyatt Scotti pitched a gem, holding the Tigers to five hits and three runs, only two of them earned runs, in 7.1 innings pitched.

Despite the loss, Clemson moved up in the NCAA Division I baseball rankings from 19th to 18th. The Tigers are one of only four one-loss teams in the Top 25, along with No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 7 Tennessee, and No. 19 Virginia.
