Class of 2026 recruit hints that UNC basketball program will have interest

A forward in the 2026 recruiting class says he heard that the UNC basketball program wanted to reach out to him.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball staff are slowly putting together their 2026 recruiting board as it’s very early in that cycle.

With the No. 1 class in 2024 and some offers out in 2025, future classes are key as well. And one prospect that could be a target for the Tar Heels is small forward Caleb Holt.

The New Market, Alabama native is considered one of the top prospects for the 2026 cycle and already has five offers with Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss and Houston showing interest. But will North Carolina pursue him?

In an interview with Burner Ball, Holt talked about teams involved in his recruitment and he mentioned North Carolina who he heard was going to reach out to him:

North Carolina: “I was told UNC is going to reach out. I haven’t heard from them personally, but Kenny Smith is a mentor of mine.”

Holt is currently in the 2026 class but could reclassify to 2025 as he told the site that the option is still on the table.

North Carolina has yet to reach out to the prospect but he’s someone to keep an eye on moving forward in his recruitment.
