Even with a men’s basketball roster that needs to replace the production of Armando Bacot, Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan for a season ago, the North Carolina Tar Heels are prepared for yet another NCAA Tournament run during their 2024-2025 campaign.
UNC’s current roster is headlined by the return of reigning ACC Player of the Year RJ Davis. Seth Trimble briefly entered the transfer portal, then withdrew to give North Carolina some major depth at guard.
Hubert Davis nabbed Cade Tyson and Ven-Allen Lubin in the transfer portal, giving the Tar Heels two likely starters at small and power forward, while he also landed commitments from incoming 5-stars Drake Powell and Ian Jackson.
After the coming season, though, UNC gets a little thin with no Davis. Luckily for North Carolina, it already has 17 offers extended out to Class of 2025 recruits.
One of those recruits is four-star guard Derek Dixon, who recently included the Tar Heels amongst his final six schools.

Dixon, who plays his high school ball at Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C., is the seventh guard UNC has already offered in the Class of 2025. Joining Dixon are Darryn Peterson, Cayden Boozer, Jasper Johnson, Isaiah Denis, Acaden Lewis and Braylon Mullins.
Dixon is visiting Chapel Hill in early September. Will North Carolina’s recruiting pitch be enough to sway him?
