Christin Stewart demoted by Tigers

Story detailing Christin Stewart’s demotion to alternate training in Toledo

DETROIT — After going 1-for-2 with a run scored, Detroit Tigers’ left fielder Christin Stewart was demoted Tuesday.

Stewart, a former first-round draft pick by Detroit out of the University of Tennessee, was demoted to the team’s alternate training site after he got a hit and scored in the Tigers’ 8-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Comerica Park.

Stewart was taken by Detroit in first round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. He made his Major League debut in 2018 for the Tigers.

The former Vol was batting just .171 with three home runs, three doubles, nine runs batted in and five runs.

Toledo is the home of the Mud Hens, Detroit’s International League (Class AAA) affiliate.
