Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey won’t win the MVP award this year. He is going to the Pro Bowl, though. Voting for this year’s teams has now closed and McCaffrey got the fifth most fan votes of any player in the league. Only Dalvin Cook, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson earned more.

McCaffrey padded his resume again in Sunday’s loss, totaling 175 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks. For the season, he’s up to 2,121 yards and 18 scores. He can still catch Chris Johnson’s single-season record (2,509), but it’s a long shot and he will need a very productive last two games of the year.

For what it’s worth, the Panthers seem to have no inclination to rest McCaffrey or give any other running backs playing time. He played every snap against Seattle.

As for the Pro Bowl, veterans often bow out but this will be McCaffrey’s first nomination, so we can probably expect to see him show up.
