New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore was served a hefty fine after being penalized for a hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in Week 7.
The hit came shortly after Allen threw a pass from the pocket with Barmore crashing down on him when attempting to make a play. It was a tough call considering how close to release Barmore made impact.
Is he supposed to not tackle the quarterback in that situation?
The fact that the NFL is making an effort to protect the quarterback is a good thing, but to be fair, it’s getting harder and harder these days to play defense.
Barmore was fined $12,913 for the hit on Allen, which he promptly responded to on social media.

The hit didn’t hinder the Patriots in any way from going on and handing the Bills a shocking 29-25 upset loss. If anything, it served as fuel for the fire to finally knock off a division rival that had bedeviled them over the last two years.
