Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports sends Vikings corner in latest mock

A physical, press-man cornerback like Joey Porter Jr. could help shape the Vikings defense in Brian Flores’ image

The Minnesota Vikings face the challenge of needing to be tactical in how they approach the upcoming NFL Draft. With many impending free agents likely to depart, the Vikings have significant holes to fill on their roster. However, they have limited draft capital, which means they will need to be strategic in their drafting approach.

On Thursday, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports released his latest mock draft and helped the Vikings by selecting Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Porter has offensive tackle arm length and plus man coverage ability. The Vikings again go to the secondary well early in the draft.

Porter has been mocked in various spots throughout mock drafts this offseason, including in the top ten. He’s arguably one of the best cornerbacks in the draft, and he brings a physical skill set to help teams who need a man coverage corner.

For the Vikings, Porter’s traits would fit perfectly. He’s been dominant in college and has excellent length and size. New defensive coordinator Brian Flores could be the perfect coach to help Porter develop into a star.
