Sacramento Kings guard Davion Mitchell and future Hall of Famer Chris Paul forged a friendship over the summer, and the rookie has had an opportunity to stay in touch with him.
Mitchell revealed this week that Paul has given him advice on how to handle the transition to the NBA. He also took some pointers from Paul on some of his on-court moves, and what to do in certain situations when leading his team.
Ahead of their matchup on Wednesday, Paul spoke very highly of Mitchell’s passion and love for the game. He believes that is part of what makes him such a good player.
He just loves to hoop, you know what I mean? That’s something that you can’t teach to have that passion and love for the game. He is a really good player. He is going to continue to get better because he is a student of the game, always eager to learn. He competes hard.
The advice given to Mitchell by Paul figures to only help smooth his transition to the next level. Paul certainly likes what he has seen by Mitchell so far and has enjoyed taking him under his wing a bit since they are now repped by the same agent.
