Chris Paul gives Steph Curry credit for famous crossover from 2015: ‘he got me’

Chris Paul admits Stephen Curry got him with his ankle-breaking crossover from 2015.

After battling in the playoffs on numerous occasions, Stephen Curry and Chris Paul’s competition has turned into one of the NBA’s most compelling rivalries.

Despite various noteworthy performances from both sides, one moment between Curry and Paul has lived on in NBA highlight reel history.

In late March of 2015, the Golden State Warriors traveled to Staples Center in Los Angeles for a contest with Paul, Blake Griffin and the Clippers.

With 2:30 remaining in the first half, Curry dribbled into the baseline and hit the Los Angeles point guard with a dazzling dribbling display that left him on the floor. With Paul trying to get to his feet, Curry splashed a smooth corner jumper that sent Warriors fans into a frenzy.

After quickly going viral for the entire world’s gander, Curry’s slick crossover is still airing across hoops highlight montages five years later.

On Monday, the pair of point guards caught up for a live video on Instagram. After getting pushed by the comment section, Paul brought up the two-time Most Valuable Player’s crossover from 2015.

The Oklahoma City All-Star gave credit to Curry for dropping him on defense.

Via Chris Montano on Twitter:

Of course, all of these people in the comments are saying something about ankle breaking. Hey, listen, we know the anniversary just past. They’re talking about when you went behind the back and all that. Listen, man — he got me.

Paul’s nod to his crossover brought Curry a smile. Yet, the two-time Most Valuable Player responded with a few moments where he ended up on the floor on defense.

But the funniest part is how many times we’ve all been dropped, right? You’ve dropped me at least three times; I got you that one time in LA, Brandon Jennings got me my rookie year. You can never ever ever live them down and they’re just going to pop up.

Once game action resumes, Curry and Paul will have a chance to link up on the court once again before the 2019-20 season is closed.

With one of Golden State’s remaining 17 games on the schedule, Paul and the Thunder are slated to travel to Chase Center in San Francisco for a late-season run.
