Tennessee will retire Chris Lofton’s No. 5 jersey during the 2022-23 season.
The Vols will retire his jersey Jan. 14, 2023 during halftime against Kentucky.
Lofton played for the Vols from 2004-2008. He was a three-time All-American and the SEC Player of the Year in 2007.
He holds the SEC record for 3-point attempts made by a freshman (93). The mark was previously held by LSU’s Chris Jackson.
Lofton holds the Vols’ single-game record for made 3-point attempts (nine).
He was named to Tennessee’s all-century team in 2009 and was inducted into the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame (2014).
Lofton, a native of Maysville, Kentucky, played professional basketball for 10 years in Europe and Asia.
He becomes the fifth Tennessee men’s basketball player to have his number retired. Lofton joins Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld, Dale Ellis and Allan Houston.
