Qingfang Pang might be one of the most intriguing prospects in the class of 2024, and Rutgers basketball just got involved in the international intrigue.
The offer for Pang came in over the weekend from Rutgers, who joined fellow Big Ten program Illinois in offering Pang. In addition, he has offers from the likes of Iona, Marist, UMass, Oregon, St. John’s and Rhode Island.
Currently, Pang is unranked by 247Sports.
A standout in China, Pang was raised in Shenzhen, located just north of Hong Kong.
On Monday, Pang broke down his recent offer from Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell and assistant coach Brandin Knight.
“Coach Steve and Brandin spoke to my guardian Tracy about the offer. When he told me the offer I was so excited about that,” Pang told RutgersWire.
“They didn’t talk about that too much, the coach said they loved my game. Keep it up, and they said they followed me for a while. I think there’s more talk in the near future.”
Pang plays for Christ the King Regional (Middle Village, N.Y.). He also plays for the famed (and historic) New York Rens.

This summer, he has shown a nuanced game. He is a good passer, a tenacious defender and a solid down-low presence.
His relationship with Rutgers, he says, will continue to grow.
“I didn’t have a chance to learn more about the program, but I will do more homework on learning more about the Rutgers basketball [program] after the EYBL season,” Pang said.
Rutgers basketball already has a highly-rated recruit in the class of 2024 and is building momentum after making consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In early June, the Scarlet Knights received a commitment from four-star Gavin Griffiths.

He is the highest-ranked recruit to commit to Pikiell while the head coach has been at Rutgers.
