Chiefs’ Tyrann Mathieu received apology text from Bucs’ Tom Brady after Super Bowl LV

Mathieu and Brady got into it numerous times during the course of the game.

Kansas City Chiefs DB Tyrann Mathieu and Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady got into a number of brief extracurricular spats during the course of Super Bowl LV.

“It’s football,” Mathieu said following the game. “So guys are going to go back-and-forth.”

A drive extended by penalties saw the star defender and quarterback jawing well after the conclusion of the play, leading to another flag against the Chiefs.

“This is the ultimate football game,” Mathieu continued. “Emotions are going to get high.”

It doesn’t appear that either of the two players won’t be holding any grudges from the heated exchange, though. According to a report from ESPN’s Jenna Laine, Brady immediately texted an apology to Mathieu for the verbal altercations that happened during the course of the game. Per Laine, Brady sought to apologize for “losing his composure.”

Mathieu tweeted about the altercation between the two players following the game, but the two tweets have since been deleted.

“Listen, Tom Brady is a great quarterback,” Mathieu told reporters following the game. “I’ve never really saw that side of Tom Brady, to be honest, but whatever. No comment. It’s over with. I’m done with it.”
