The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a former starting center.
Ari Meirov of Pro Football Focus reports that the Chiefs are signing center Austin Reiter, who spent 2018-2020 in K.C. as the starter for the team. A former seventh-round draft pick by the Washington Commanders in 2015, the 30-year-old Reiter now enters his seventh year in the NFL.

Reiter started 38 games for KC from 2018-2020, including both Super Bowls. He spent last season in New Orleans and Miami and is now returning to KC.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pounder started at center for the Chiefs during both of the team’s Super Bowl appearances in 2019 and 2020, and started 38 total games in Kansas City during his three-year run with the team. Reiter now projects to be a strong backup in K.C. in 2022, providing depth behind Creed Humphrey who took over the Chiefs’ starting center job in 2021.
Reiter bounced around a bit in 2021, starting five games for the Miami Dolphins and spending some time on the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad. Prior to his time with the Chiefs, Reiter spent 2016 and 2017 with the Cleveland Browns, starting one game.
