Chiefs TE Travis Kelce posts historic night vs. Steelers

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had another historic postseason performance in the win over the #Steelers.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had a monster night against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild-card round, which led to some NFL and franchise history being made.

Kelce led all Chiefs receivers with seven targets for five receptions, 108 yards and one touchdown catch. It was his fourth consecutive postseason game with over 100 yards receiving, which tied for the longest postseason streak league annals per Chiefs PR.  It was good for his seventh career 100-yard receiving game in the postseason in his career, trailing only Jerry Rice (8) for the second-most in NFL history.

Kelce’s 100 receiving yards was also enough to lift him over 1,000 career postseason receiving yards. He joins Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski as the only two players at the tight end position in NFL history to have 1,000 or more career receiving yards in the playoffs.

The second-quarter touchdown reception gave Kelce 10 touchdowns in the postseason in his career, tying former Chiefs RB Damien Williams for the most postseason touchdown in franchise history. It’s also tied for the fourth most postseason touchdowns by any player in NFL history. He trails only Gronkowski (15) for receiving touchdowns by TE in postseason play.

If Kelce’s receiving yards weren’t enough, he also threw his first career touchdown pass, a 2-yard score to Byron Pringle.

As a result, Kelce became the only player in NFL history to ever have 100 yards receiving, a receiving touchdown and a passing touchdown in a single playoff game. He also became just one of three players in NFL history to have caught and thrown a touchdown pass in a playoff game, joining Marcus Mariota and Nick Foles. He’s the only skill-position player to have ever done it before.

It’s all just a notch on the belt for Kelce in what is sure to be a Hall of Fame career, but rest assured he’s focused on just one thing. That’s getting started on the preparation for the divisional round of the playoffs, where they’ll face the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium.
