He’s also a proud native of Northeast Ohio, a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and someone who wears his love of Cleveland on his sleeve.
His two worlds collide on Sunday when his Chiefs face his hometown Browns in the AFC divisional round. It’s a conflict that Kelce is keenly aware of,
“Being from Cleveland and playing the Browns, it’s definitely upped the ante a little bit,” Kelce said in the first question in his Wednesday press conference. I absolutely love Cleveland. but I understand we are each other’s enemies right now. I’ve got a lot of friends and family that are telling me I’m the enemy.”
Kelce, who played collegiately at Cincinnati, continued,
“It’s definitely going to be fun going up against the Browns. It’s going to be an exciting game.”
Stopping Kelce is a huge key for the Browns. He caught 105 passes for 1,416 yards and 11 TDs this season and that includes sitting out Week 17. His speed and toughness in the middle of the field are very difficult to defend when paired with the speed the Chiefs possess on the outside.
