Chiefs schedule for 2020 NFL season coming no later than May 9

We should know the 2020 NFL schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs in roughly a month.

The NFL plans to announce its 2020 schedule no later than May 9 according to a number of reports.

We already know the opponents that the Kansas City Chiefs are set to face in their home and away games, but we don’t know the order in which those games will be played. The NFL typically releases the schedule in mid-April, but with the coronavirus pandemic, they now have some reason to push it beyond the 2020 NFL draft. It’ll help keep fans inundated with more NFL content as the offseason progresses.

At home, the Chiefs are slated to face all three AFC West teams, as well as the Houston Texans, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons

On the road, Kansas City will also face all three AFC West teams, and they’ll play the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills.

Right now, everything is tracking for the NFL to start their season on time.  On a conference call with media on Tuesday, NFL executive Jeff Pash said that the NFL is “planning” for the season to start on time. Of course, with the situation surrounding COVID-19, the season starting on time is far from a certainty. The NFL has been consulting with all the experts and the model they are using projects a September start date.

Additionally, the NFL is said to be planning to go ahead with its 2020 international slate of games, though, they’re also monitoring that situation. The Chiefs seem unlikely to earn an international game after playing the Chargers in Mexico City in 2019.

If the May 9 schedule release holds, we should know what the 2020 schedule will look like for Kansas City in just over a month, despite any potential changes to the start of the season and international games.
