Chiefs nominate DB Trent McDuffie for Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award

The Kansas City Chiefs selected DB Trent McDuffie to be their nominee for the prestigious Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award on Wednesday.

The Kansas City Chiefs nominated second-year star defensive back Trent McDuffie for the 2023 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award on Wednesday ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

McDuffie has been a leader on Kansas City’s defense all season, rising to stardom as a lynchpin of the team’s budding young secondary.

According to the statement issued by the Chiefs on Twitter, the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award “is presented each year to a player who demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship — including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.”

The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award was first won by Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald in 2014. The winner for the 2022 season was Calais Campbell, who was nominated by the Baltimore Ravens.

McDuffie certainly seems like a great fit to win the prestigious award but will have to beat out 31 other nominees from other teams around the NFL.

Expect to hear more about the promising young defender’s candidacy later in the 2023 season.
