The Kansas City Chiefs made a major upgrade to their linebacker corps by adding Drue Tranquill in free agency, and with offseason workouts in full swing, it seems that he has made quick friends with his new teammates.
In a video posted to Twitter by the Chiefs’ official account, a player is seen hyping up Tranquill as he lifts. That player is none other than third-year linebacker Willie Gay, serving as Tranquill’s personal hype man, cementing a newfound chemistry between the linebackers who used to be rivals and are now teammates in Kansas City.

Fans should expect the bond between these two defensive presences to be at an all-time high when training camp starts in July. If the video is any indication, intensity shouldn’t be an issue for the unit when the regular season finally comes around.
Be sure to notice Tranquill’s incredibly vascular physique, too. It should lend itself to some hard-hitting plays as he patrols the middle of Kansas City’s defense in 2023 along with Gay, Nick Bolton, Leo Chenal and the rest of the Chiefs’ fresh faces on the defensive side of the ball.
