The Kansas City Chiefs escaped their Week 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders fairly healthy, which is always good news in a rivalry game.

Andy Reid spoke to the media after the game providing his usual update on injured players to start his press conference. The Chiefs didn’t have any injuries per se, but two players seemed to be limited during the game due to illnesses.

“As far as the injuries go, Charvarius Ward had a little bit of a stomach illness,” Reid said. “Willie Gay, likewise, had a little bit of illness before the game. Really, everybody else finished the game. They played.”

It doesn’t sound like Reid expects either player to miss time with these illnesses, but it did at least limit them during this game. This is the time of year where flu bugs and stuff start to go around locker rooms, so it’s something to monitor as we head into Week 11.

Asked specifically about star S Tyrann Mathieu, who took a knee late in the game before coming off the field, Reid said it wasn’t a big deal. He made the decision to take the entire starting defense and offense out of the game late in the fourth quarter with the game well in hand. Mathieu was no exception and his removal from the game had more to do with that decision than anything else.

“I took everybody out,” Reid said. “I don’t know, Tyrann (Mathieu) might have an ankle or a little something, but I took them all out at that time. I don’t think it’s anything serious.”

We’ll see if anything else pops up between now and Wednesday, but for the time being, this seems to be the best-case scenario for Kansas City following Week 10.
