The Kansas City Chiefs nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in their Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
However, a marvelous scramble by reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes ensured that the Chiefs would be able to kick a chip-shot field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter to seal their tenth regular season victory.
The 33-yard run by Mahomes got Kansas City to Carolina’s 22-yard line with less than a minute remaining in the game and the score tied at 27 points.
If it weren’t for Mahomes’ clutch scramble, the Panthers may have been able to stymie the Chiefs’ offense and win the game in overtime.
