Chiefs assign jersey numbers for incoming free agents

There are some fresh jersey numbers for the newest members of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Incoming members of the Kansas City Chiefs have been assigned their jersey numbers for the 2020 NFL season. As the virtual offseason program continues, players have been received their jersey numbers per the teams’ official roster. Here’s a look at all the jersey numbers for the Chiefs’ recently-signed free agents:

  • QB Jordan Ta’amu: 8
  • RB DeAndre Washington: 24
  • OT Mike Remmers: 75
  • TE Ricky Seals-Jones: 83
  • CB Antonio Hamilton: 20
  • P Tyler Newsome: 6

Seals-Jones will keep the number he wore in 2019 with the Cleveland Browns. Hamilton gets a new number and a good one for a cornerback too. Remmers will take No. 75 which was last worn by OL Cameron Erving. The No. 8 jersey has been worn by both kickers and quarterbacks in Kansas City. Famed players like Nick Lowery and Morten Andersen both wore No. 8. The last quarterback to wear the No. 8 jersey in Kansas City was backup QB and savior of the 2019 NFL season, Matt Moore.

There are also some new jersey numbers for players who signed reserve/future contracts with the team:

  • RB Mike Weber 45
  • RB Marcus Marshall 38
  • DE Anthony Lanier: 90

The most interesting thing here is Lanier wearing No. 90 which is generally considered a premier number defensive linemen.
