Chet Holmgren nominated for January’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month award.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s streak of Rookie of the Month awards this season will end at two. Chet Holmgren was nominated for January’s award, but Victor Wembanyama ultimately won the honor.

Holmgren won it in October/November and December. This season, he’s helped lead the Thunder to a 33-15 record and in second place in the Western Conference standings.

In 48 games, Holmgren is averaging 16.7 points on 53.3% shooting, 7.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 blocks. He’s shooting 38.2% from 3 on 4.1 attempts.

In 17 games during January, Holmgren averaged 14.9 points on 51.5% shooting, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 blocks. He shot 34.8% from 3 on four attempts.

Even though he didn’t win the monthly award, he was recently named as an All-Star Rising Stars challenge participant along with Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace.

The other nominee was Houston Rockets forward Cam Whitmore. Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller won the Eastern Conference’s version of the award for January.
