Former Florida coach Mike White stole the show for a moment from the Selection Show for March Madness on Sunday night. News broke that White was leaving the Gators for the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida fans took to Twitter in full force to show their displeasure, or in many cases, their enthusiasm to the former coach joining arguably their biggest rival.
It’s a very interesting move for Georgia to make, considering White failed to live up to the lofty expectations Gators fans had following the legendary Billy Donovan who left for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.
White ultimately spent seven seasons with the Orange and Blue and earned an NCAA Tournament bid four times, making a run to the Elite Eight in his second season. However, many of his critics felt like Florida didn’t compete for SEC Championships enough or barely squeaked into the 68-team field too many times.
Regardless, at Georgia, if White made the NCAA Tournament as consistently as he did at Florida, most Bulldogs fans would be content considering their lack of success in college basketball.
