Well, the meat market that is the NFL Draft Combine is under way and a Notre Dame wide receiver is already making waves just by stepping on the scales and having his measurements taken.
#NFLCombine key measurements thread…

Scouts were already talking about a potential move to tight end for Notre Dame wide receiver Chase Claypool but after weighing in at 238 pounds that talk is heating up. One scout told me he’s a potential matchup nightmare for defenses. He’s a round 3 player on my board.

Spoke to four scouts and three said Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool won today’s weigh-ins. Put on nine pounds since @seniorbowl (229 lbs in Mobile and 238 today). Might be embracing the TE conversion. He’s going to be a mismatch problem at the next level.#TheDraftStartsInMOBILE pic.twitter.com/J8EBFq1Hci

None of the tight end talk is truly news. But it’s been more of a curiosity than something that is backed up by actual data. Now we have that.
In today’s NFL, Claypool would present an ultimate weapon for teams at the tight end position. His willingness to block and aggressiveness would allow him to play in-line if needed while his experience at wide receiver would allow him to be flexed out whenever the team that drafts him sees fit.
Now let’s see how he runs!
