Charles Barkley wanted Coach Prime at Auburn, but expects success at Colorado

Charles Barkley is confident that Coach Prime will find success at Colorado

Charles Barkley has made a name for himself in his post-playing career as a TV analyst who will tell it like it is and endears himself to NBA fans with his “guarrrr-an-teeeesss.” Denver Nuggets fans were on the right side of his proclamation that they would win the NBA title, and now Colorado Buffaloes fans will hope he’s right about their program and head coach Deion Sanders.

Barkley was interviewed by sports columnist Sean Keeler of The Denver Post and had nothing but praise to heap on Coach Prime. It’s no secret that Barkley is a fan of the Buffaloes’ new coach, telling Keeler that wins will come to CU based on Sanders’ history.

“(Sanders) is going to be successful” Barkley told Keeler. “He’s been successful everywhere he’s been. And I like him a lot as a person. You guys got very lucky.”

There was a little bit of envy to Barkley’s message, too, as he admitted that he would’ve liked to have seen Coach Prime roaming the sidelines for his alma mater.

“I’m happy for CU and happy for Deion, but I really wanted him at Auburn.” Barkley said. “He’s (Sanders) is going to de a fantastic job at whatever (opportuinty) he decides to do. And I really wanted him at Auburn, and congratulations to the Buffaloes.”
