It’s been a year, but Kevin Durant’s decision to sign with the Nets over the Knicks still comes up from time-to-time. If Durant’s decision to sign with Golden State is any indication, the Brooklyn over New York conversation isn’t going away any time soon.
Because it’s been over a year since Durant decided to move on from the Warriors and Charles Barkley still felt the need to criticize the forward for his signing with Golden State during the Hall of Famer’s recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
“Kevin Durant is still a bus-rider until he wins one in Brooklyn,” Barkley said. “And let me tell you something, I have not idea what the hell’s going on in Brooklyn.”
That’s when Barkley decided to lay into Kyrie Irving over his “I don’t really see us having a head coach” remark.
“First of all, he did not say Steve Nash. He said, ‘sometimes it’ll be me, sometimes it’ll be KD.'” Barkley said. “That was one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard and NBA player say. I have no idea — that was flat out crazy.
“I think it’s going to fascinating watching those guys, especially in New York.”
Partick then asked if the Nets will be fascinating in a good or bad way.
“I think it’s going to be a bad fascination,” Barkley said. “I don’t think either one of those guys … They’re lucky they don’t play for the Knicks. But I think because they’re so high-profile and all the stuff Kyrie has said the last couple years, I think they’re going to get the same media attention that the Knicks get. I think it’s going to be fascinating, and I can’t wait to watch.”
