Chargers hiring Brandon Staley as next head coach

The Los Angeles Chargers have announced their new head coach.

A report came out that Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was the favorite to become the Chargers’ next head coach, but that quickly changed.

Los Angeles is hiring former Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley for their head coaching vacancy.

Staley interviewed with L.A. for the second time on Sunday.

In 2020, the Rams defense ranked No. 1 in the NFL in both yards and points allowed in Staley’s first season as defensive coordinator.

Prior to joining the Rams, the 38-year old was an outside linebackers coach for the Broncos (2019) and Bears (2017-18).

Before his NFL coaching days, Staley coached for three seasons at John Carroll University, a Division III college in Ohio, and also spent a season as defensive coordinator at James Madison University.
