Chargers have video meeting with Utah DT Leki Fotu

The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to add more beef to the defensive line.

The Chargers let go of a key player along the defensive line earlier on, electing to release Brandon Mebane. To fill the void, they signed Linval Joseph last month.

Despite the acquisition, Los Angeles appears to be looking to add more depth at the position in the upcoming draft.

According to Draft Wire’s Justin Melo, L.A. is set to FaceTime with former Utah nose tackle Leki Fotu.

Fotu played in 45 career games for the Utes. For his efforts, he earned first team All-Pac-12 honors in 2018 and 2019. He finished his collegiate career with 82 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, four sacks and three passes defensed.

For someone of his size (6-foot-5 and 330 pounds), he has rare movement skills. He is at his best taking up space by taking on double teams and holding the line of scrimmage to allow other members of the defense to roam freely.

In one-on-one situations, Fotu wins with upper body strength strength and heavy hands to make his presence in his backfield. Even though his pass-rushing skills are a work in progress, he is capable of being a stout run defender at the next level.
