The Chargers are preparing for life after Philip Rivers by doing their homework on all of the top signal-callers in the upcoming draft.
First it was Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Utah State’s Jordan Love. You can add Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts to that list.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Los Angeles had a pre-draft virtual meeting with Hurts.
Hurts finished with 9,477 total career yards, 80 total touchdowns between his time at Oklahoma and Alabama and was named the runner up for the Heisman Trophy in 2019.
A born leader, Hurts possesses the intangibles and toughness that’s required at the next level. Even though he possesses the ability to win with his legs, he still needs some work as a passer in order to thrive as a starter.
Hurts projects as a second or third-round selection.
