Chad Johnson on Panthers’ reported WR search: I’m available on Sundays

Chad Johnson may have just offered up his services to the WR-needy Panthers.

If the Carolina Panthers are indeed on the hunt for a top-tier receiver, we may have just found one. But, uh, he might be a few years too late.

On Tuesday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Panthers are in hot pursuit of a wideout to help kickstart quarterback Bryce Young and their sluggish offense.

“The Panthers, according to sources, are in the market, not only for a receiver, but a top-tier one,” Schultz said. “What this comes down to is two-fold. No. 1, they know they don’t have enough weapons for Bryce Young. But No. 2, they believe so much in Bryce Young the Panthers do—GM Scott Fitterer, head coach Frank Reich—that they want to go all-in, double down this season.

Not too long after the report made its rounds, a former three-time First-team All-Pro may have offered up his services . . .

Johnson, forever the jokester, is probably a tad past his prime at 45 years old. And despite sticking to his devotion to a McDonald’s-dominated diet, we’re willing to bet his hankering for fast food may not have kept him in the greatest of football shape since his last NFL game in 2011.

So thanks, Ochocinco, but Fitterer and the Panthers may just stick to the players who are actually active.
