College Football News recently identified Georgia placekicker Jared Zirkel as the key player in order for the Bulldogs to have a successful season.
For the first time in four years Georgia will be without record-breaking kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, which means until we see Zirkel’s first kick split the uprights, there’s uncertainty at the position among fans.
From Fiutak:
Zirkel, though, is the big-legged recruit out of Texas who might just be the difference between a national championship season and another really, really good campaign.
No matter who it is, replacing Rodrigo Blankenship is asking a lot. All he did was hit 80-of-97 field goals and connect on all 200 extra point attempts in his four years.
Zirkel, at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, hails from Kerrville, Texas, where he played for Tivy High School.
