While we might want to believe the world has gotten better about such things, it is still far too common for the children of biracial relationships to face discrimination, as Boston Celtics veteran big man Blake Griffin can attest through his own experience as such a child.
The Oklahoma native sat down with the eponymous host of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” show to talk about his background growing up in the Midwestern U.S. as a biracial kid in a country that continues to struggle with race. Griffin explained how his parents’ example in the face of such discrimination helped prepare him for such disheartening behavior.
He also gets into why he and his brother, Taylor, were home-schooled.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear Griffin’s appreciation for his parents and how they handled such problematic behavior.
