The Boston Celtics made a lot of moves at the 2022 NBA trade deadline, enough to radically reshape the team’s bench to a (hopefully) more competitive version of itself with the addition of some new and old faces both.
San Antonio Spurs guard Derrick White joined the team for the first time as veteran big man Daniel Theis was reunited with the team that traded him away for cap savings at last season’s trade deadline. The team shipped out Josh Richardson, Dennis Schroder, Romeo Langford, Enes Freedom, Bruno Fernando, Bol Bol, and PJ Dozier in the process, and the following morning, team president Brad Stevens met with the media to discuss the substantial changes to the team.
Stevens began by thanking and acknowledging the players who were no longer with the team, and then began to shed some light on what went into the unexpected trade for White.
