Celtics injury update: Jaylen Brown OUT vs Mavs: Josh Richardson questionable

Boston will need to lean on its youth movement in Brown’s absence.

The Boston Celtics officially ruled out All-Star forward Jaylen Brown from playing in their next game after the Georgia native had exited the prior contest — a 95 – 78 blowout of the (then) East-leading Miami Heat — with tightness in his hamstring.

Given that Brown has dealt with hamstring issues in the past, it seems the Celtics are taking care not to re-aggravate the injury in Saturday’s road contest with the Dallas Mavericks. Brown may find himself joined by veteran wing Josh Richardson as a scratch for the game, the latter player having already missed the victory over the Heat with a left foot contusion he has been listed as questionable against the Mavericks for.

Dallas, while at 5 – 3 in the West, is still a superable team for a dinged-up Celtics squad should they come out and play as they did against Miami.

A minor silver lining is the absence of one or both for the team will open up some playing time for Boston’s young players, who showed promise in the victory over the Heat on Thursday.
